   Projects! Projects! Projects!

Kando Youth Theatre Beard Growing Project.

Not really, but we do have two new exciting (hairless) projects this year. 'Tees Tales' a folklore inspired performance with young actors and puppets and 'PastTimes' a lighthearted performance piece exploring leasure activities through the ages. These two projects will involve some acting, some puppets and all will require a large slice of creativity from the young people involved.

The Amazing "Mitsy" Puppet

Mitsy compressed

Have a go at this easy to make puppet.

'Mitsy' the adorable wee character below, has been so popular we've decided to keep her on the front page for a little while longer. To find out how to make her just click on the pic or the title above. She's one of the easiest puppets to make. Simple yet so dynamic. 'Mitsy' can sit, stand on her back legs and even walk down your arm. How do you make the legs? You don't! You'll find them inside your glove. Have you put your 'finger' on it yet?

Students ready to Act Up!

As part of a recruitment drive, we've been holding drama workshops in our local schools. After the half-term hols we hope to have two more groups up and running. A Junior section for year 4/5 and another senior group for year 6/7/8.

A Very Special Letter

This very special letter was sent by Rachel Davis from St Mary's National School, Templemore, County Tipperary, Ireland. Rachel wrote the letter to thank us for the 'Recycle Magic' show we performed at her school in February. It was such a surprise when it came through the letter box. Isn't it lovely that in this time of virtual communication, Rachel has taken the time to write and post her letter. Thank you so much and 'Billy' sends all his love, he also asks if Rachel has any fruit. Those who haven't met Billy won't know what he's talking about, but I'm sure Rachel does. The vistit to the school would not have been possible without funding from the North Tipperary County Council and the Local Agenda Partnership fund. A particular thank you is due to Deidre Cox from the Environment Department organised the event.

A 'Cool' Day

How do you have a fun day and help prevent global warming? Click on the pic above and find out what the papers say. It's been a busy dramatic few weeks, but we still managed to fit in a very special Recycle Day. Kando paid a visit to Mowden Junior School and the result was some very creative creations!

Just check out those very special puppets. Click the pic for info.

Back in October 2012, we were in action in Ireland with the Kando envionmental awareness program, Recycle Magic. We've just received some photos of some  fantastic puppets made by students in one of the schools we visited - Taney Parish Primary. They're so good we're featuring them on our 'Project Page'.
